  • The next meeting of the DC Metro MSSA chapter will be Wednesday November 4 at 7:30pm.  As always we will meet in Downtown Bethesda at 4805 Edgemoor Ln, Room A, Bethesda, MD 20814 (Meeting Location).

Our guest speaker for the Nov 4 meeting will be Captain Chuck Fisher.  Capt Chuck is a renowned charter boat captain in both Deale, MD (Spring, Summer, Fall) and VA Beach (Winter).  Capt Chuck also owns BFG Tackle, which you have seen for sale at many local tackle shops and at Bass Pro.  Capt Chuck will be telling us all about the winter fishery at the CBBT and around VA Beach.  We have chartered Capt Chuck for our first chapter fishing trip on Dec 5 to fish the CBBT.  We are all looking forward to another great meeting.

I hope to see you all there, and please bring a friend! Email me with questions: President@dcmssa.org.

    Thanks, Jeremy

  • Another great meeting of the DC Metro MSSA chapter was held on October 7th in downtown Bethesda.  The chapter members all exchanged fishing reports and tips for the early fall.

Our guest speaker for the evening was the reputable Captain George Prenant of the Stormy Petrel out of Deale, MD.  Capt George shared many tips and proven techniques for catching rockfish in the fall in the middle and upper bay.  We discussed the state of the fishery and the numerous changes that Capt George has seen over the last 50 years.

DC Metro MSSA chapter president Jeremy Bendler announced the first chapter fishing trip.  The chapter has chartered captain Chuck Fisher to fish the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on December 5, 2009.  This will be a great trip with an excellent captain, and many members have already expressed interest in the trip.  More details to follow.

The chapter has also begun the planning process for our first Kid’s Fishing Day to be held in the summer 2010.  Look for additional details to follow.

Some great door prizes were awarded including a nice green machine, small jet head, large Atom popper, and a copy of Lee Samson’s ‘Fish the Surf’ DVD.  A good time was had by all!
