Meeting began with presidents announcements and a reiteration of our goals to increase membership in the chapter.
Martin Needle was introduced as the new Vice President of the DC Metro MSSA chapter. We are proud and pleased to have Martin join the executive team. His passion for fishing will help invigorate and energize our chapter. We appreciate his commitment and service.
Chapter members shared many fishing reports from the past month, including tales of the white marlin open, blue marlin fishing in Hawaii, crabbing the upper bay, fishing for spot at PLO and hunting Spanish mackerel in the middle bay.
Mike Thein introduced us to the Maryland Fisherman annual publication. If you haven’t been able to get your hands on your copy please contact me or Mike to secure yours now. Well worth the $10.
Our guest speaker for the evening was Lee Samson. Lee shared his knowledge and expertise on surf fishing. Members were treated to a great presentation, and were able to purchase Lee’s DVD called Fish the Surf. I have since viewed the DVD in it’s entirety and I can attest to its quality. The DVD is full of useful tips and information for all surf and shore anglers. I suggest you contact Lee through his website www.fishthesurf.net to purchase the dvd. On behalf of the chapter I would like to thank Lee again for join us.
Door prizes were awarded including a nice downplaner, long sand spike, hook remover pliers and some circle hooks.
A good time was had by all!
Join us Wednesday October 7 for another informational and entertaining meeting with Captain George Prenant owner and operator of the Stormy Petrel charter boat out of Deale, MD. Capt George will be sharing his secrets for catching fall rockfish in the middle and upper bay.
