Spring Catch & Release for Rockfish
No CommentsDCMSSA needs to get the input of our membership and formulate a chapter position to pass on to the main MSSA. Please provide your feedback on this important issue over email by October 1.
This topic is Hot Hot Hot. Do you feel that Catch & Release fishing should be allowed during the spring in the Chesapeake Bay (January – Opening Day) (Pre-Spawn & Spawn)? Should gear be restricted in some way, i.e. limited number of rods on boats, single hook only, barbless hook only, circle hook only etc? Would you prefer limited opening of the C&R season i.e. open one day a week during the spring? Please consider not only your enjoyment of the Catch & Release fishing in the spring, but the impact of such actions on the migratory striped bass population for the rest of the year and seasons to come.
There are as many answers as there are members of the MSSA. Please be concise in your responses, but provide some reasoning or justification for your views.
I look forward to your responses emailed to Jeremy Bendler (President@dcmssa.org), which will be kept confidential.
Thanks,
