DCMSSA needs to get the input of our membership and formulate a chapter position to pass on to the main MSSA. Please provide your feedback on this important issue over email by October 1.
This topic is Hot Hot Hot. Do you feel that Catch & Release fishing should be allowed during the spring in the Chesapeake Bay (January – Opening Day) (Pre-Spawn & Spawn)? Should gear be restricted in some way, i.e. limited number of rods on boats, single hook only, barbless hook only, circle hook only etc? Would you prefer limited opening of the C&R season i.e. open one day a week during the spring? Please consider not only your enjoyment of the Catch & Release fishing in the spring, but the impact of such actions on the migratory striped bass population for the rest of the year and seasons to come.
There are as many answers as there are members of the MSSA. Please be concise in your responses, but provide some reasoning or justification for your views.
I look forward to your responses emailed to Jeremy Bendler (President@dcmssa.org), which will be kept confidential.
Thanks,
Jeremy -

From what I have heard the Proposed Planer Board Regulations have been delayed and no action is eminent. Of course the issue could be picked back up at any time. In the mean time we should formulate our position so that we are ready to contribute. Are you for or against planer board regulations? To what length should planer board lines be restricted (if any). Should flags be required on all planer boards? What color should flags and/or boards be? Should the rules be different for weekday vs. weekend? Should the rules be different for recreational anglers vs. charter boats? Should there be a restriction on the number of rods one boat can fish? Other?
